Tanya Di Tommaso
PhD candidate
Tanya is a doctoral student in clinical psychology at the Université du Québec à Montréal, working under the supervision of Dr. Alexandra Oliveira Paiva, psychologist.
During her doctoral studies, she has worked in both public and private settings, where she has practiced assessment and intervention with an adult clientele, following a cognitive-behavioral approach. Tanya has specialized in various issues: anxiety disorders, personality disorders, mood disorders, emotion regulation, relational difficulties, self-esteem, grief, and stress management.
Her therapeutic approach is primarily based on third-wave cognitive-behavioral therapies, with strong inspiration drawn from Young’s schema therapy and the integration of elements from acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). In her practice, Tanya emphasizes exploring the past as a foundation for understanding current challenges, recognizing that past experiences influence the difficulties encountered in daily life. She also places significant importance on emotional work, seeing the expression and understanding of emotions as a central element of the healing process. At the same time, she guides her clients in discovering their authentic identity, helping them reconnect with themselves and develop a more genuine and fulfilling version of who they are.
Tanya offers psychological assessment and individual psychotherapy services in both French and English, with weekly or biweekly sessions, for an adult clientele.
