Isabelle Doré
Isabelle Doré
Psychologist, PsyD
Isabelle is not currently taking on new clients.
Isabelle’s main goal as a therapist is to build a genuine, trusting and non-judgmental relationship with her clients, working in a collaborative way to make sense of their experience (present and past), and to understand, in light of their life history, which habits or tendencies they have developed that may contribute to their current difficulties and suffering. She also finds that working with the therapeutic relationship in the “here and now” is a powerful way to shed light on relational dynamics (that is, the way we relate to ourselves as well as others), so that healing occurs through a restorative, supportive therapeutic alliance.
Her approach is based on authenticity, compassion, trust and even humor, as therapy is also a place to celebrate moments of pride, joy, connection – a place where one is able to feel the full spectrum of human emotions. Isabelle draws on the unique strengths and qualities of each of her clients to help them find (or rediscover) the meaning and direction of their lives and make changes that are consistent with their values, their needs and who they are fundamentally.
Isabelle holds a Bachelor's degree (B. Sc Hons) and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (Psy.D). Initially trained in a cognitive-behavioral approach, she continued her training in humanistic-existential therapy at the McGill University Health Center's Sex and Couple Therapy Service, and at the International Psychology Clinic in Rome. Over the years, she has had the opportunity to help her clients overcome difficulties related to anxiety, depression, trauma, sexual and relationship difficulties. She offers individual and couple counseling to adult clients (online).
