Alexandra Bisson Desrochers
Psychologist, Psy.D./Ph.D.
Alexandra is not currently taking on new clients.
With a compassionate approach, Alexandra uses schema therapy (Jeffrey Young) as a conceptual framework to help her clients better understand their current difficulties in the context of their life history, in order to resolve certain impasses and move towards what is important to them. Her therapeutic style focuses on compassion, collaboration, non-judgment, authenticity and curiosity in order to provide a safe space where her clients can settle. In her clinical practice, Alexandra flexibly combines various cognitive-behavioural approach strategies (compassion-focused approach, behavioral dialectics, acceptance and commitment therapy), with a strong emphasis on the therapeutic relationship.
As part of her clinical training, the different environments in which she was able to evolve (eg, Allan Memorial Institute, Douglas Mental Health University Institute, Montreal General Hospital) allowed her to acquire a varied clinical experience. She offers psychotherapy services to adults experiencing depressed mood, stress or anxiety, post-traumatic reactions, difficulties with assertiveness, emotional regulation and self-esteem/harsh self-criticism.
Outside of her private practice, Alexandra works as a psychologist/neuropsychologist in the Traumatic Brain Injury program at the Gingras Lindsay Rehabilitation Institute in Montreal. At L’espace, Alexandra offers psychotherapy services in French, on a weekly basis.
